Cosy up in the warm and welcoming setting of Queenie’s Coffee Shop for another series of fabulous spoken word, music and theatre performances, as well as opportunities to take part in our open mic.

For our first Coffee House Night of the 2017 Spring Season, we are delighted to welcome three talented and unique acts to our cosy Queenie’s space.

Genevieve Carver
Sheffield-based Genevieve Carver has been wowing spoken word audiences since 2011 with her trademark mix of humour and melancholy, and rhythmical storytelling style. She performs regularly at prestigious events across the country, having supported artists such as Buddy Wakefield and Hollie McNish, and her written work has appeared in several national anthologies and magazines. Genevieve is currently touring her show The Unsung with a live band.

Ciarán Hodgers
Irish poet Ciarán Hodgers is the 2016 Word War 3 Slam Champion. Billed as a ‘powerhouse poet at the top of his game’ by Dublin’s Lingo festival. He’s performed in the Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Contact Theatre and John Ryland’s Library with his “storming”, “breathtaking” words.

Ian Whiteley
Ian Whiteley is a performance poet and fronts poetry/music project The Crows Of Albion – who have released 3 CDs: Poetic License (2013), Still In The War Boys (2014) and Here There Be Demons (2015). He has had 2 poetry collections published by Currock Press, A Step Towards Winter (2013) and Cycle Of The Scarecrow (2016) and is ¼ of the performance poetry group, Bard Company.
