Hepworth Bluebell Walk
A walk that can be done in any season but is particularly good in May when Morton Wood is full of Bluebells.
Hepworth was built around agriculture and the local wool trade before the industrial revolution. During the Great Plague of 1665 the village was split into two at Barracks Fold. One end of the village held those infected away from others who weren’t ill. In all some 13 people died and 13 trees were planted in their memory up near the football field which you will pass on this walk.
The events of the plague which reached its most Northly point here at Hepworth are commemorated on the last day of June each year in the Hepworth Feast.
You can also visit the Butchers Arms pub in Hepworth at the end of the walk for a well deserved pint or a bite to eat! Or why not walk to The Oil Cafe at Carding Shed (a few mins away), a beautiful vintage tea room with a difference!
